IDVGA Championship – Gailes 17th and 24th August
I hope you all know that the Championship Competition will be a 36-Hole Stroke event, played as two 18 Hole Rounds, played in three Men’s Divisions, Ladies Division and both Men’s and Ladies Age Division’s (70+ and 80+). As you would have just read, you need to have played 3 rounds this year to be eligible to play in the Championship. If you are not sure if you have played 3 games, give me a call and I can tell you. If you are not eligible or are only playing one of the two (2) rounds of the championship, you can still play golf with the rest of us in Round 1 (17th August) or Round 2 (24th August), however you will be in the Medley Stableford event being played on each day.
This year’s Championship will be the same as every other Championship held, but one (1) significant difference. We will be using the DIGITAL SCORECARD system on the GA App just like we have been doing for most of this year. The GA App Digital score card records both your Strokes and Handicap results for each hole (as seen in the 1st and 2nd image below). If you have “Pick Up” the GA App will record your Gross total with and * (as shown in the 3rd image below).
HOWEVER, this * score is only adjusted to a Stableford “Wash” score. For those playing in the Championship STROKE event, the GA App WILL NOT reflect your TRUE GROSS score, of Par +5 as explained below, but the Par +5 result WILL appear in the STROKE Results report produced by the GA Connect system.
You can see from the image below that your handicap will be frozen to the same handicap you had on Monday 17th August (Round 1) for Round 2. This DOES NOT MEAN that if play in another competition during the week between Round 1 and 2, that your handicap may not change for that competition. It is ONLY FROZEN for the Round 2 of the championship.
HOWEVER, you also need to be aware that if you do not complete the hole and/or “pick up” you as always need to select “Pick Up’ as your score, but for the purpose of the STROKE event, the App will record your score as “Par +5 as shown in the image above. Then you just need the “confirm” your score, you and the Attester (Marker) signed for your score, and then ensure you get the “Successfully Upload” confirmation message.
As I have asked every game this year, you still need to complete your “paper based” (1 card per player) scorecard. IT IS IMPORTANT that you return these paper scorecards to me, even if you get the “Successfully Upload” confirmation message. This has not been happening 100% of the time for all events this year.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? It is important that you return your “paper based” scorecard to me because it is ONLY on these paper cards is where you indicate that you are playing in the Medley Stableford event. Not the Championship STROKE Event. If you do not return your “paper based” scorecard, I will assume automatically that you are playing the Championship STROKE event or I will DISQUALIFY you (depending on my mood on the day).
As you would have read, if you clicked on the link above like I said, you would have noticed that everyone will receive a golf ball at Registration on Day 1 of the Championships and consequently, there will not be a Ball Rundown on Day 1. Therefore, there will be no presentations after the completion of the 1st Round of the Championship, include Day 1 Medley Stableford Results.
ALL presentations will be done after the completion of the Round 2.
