Apologies for the interruption to the placement of recent Results and Reports. Hopefully the problem is solved, well for the time being anyway.
Today’s game was one of those most looked forward to each year, and the weather was as good as it gets. A few had to make a second approach to the Club after taking the Wolston Park turnoff, but everyone arrived in good time and play got under way slightly ahead of time
The field of 123 (106 men and 17 ladies) was the largest since Sandy Gallop, and on the long Gailes layout players were well spaced and the field moved well. The first groups finished in just over 4 hours. We welcomed one visitor from South Australia.
The Course was in top condition and the local ‘Tree Root relief’ rule was the only one needed, together with the new optional ‘Out of Bounds’ rule. The Greens were in excellent condition also but some of the Pin placements caught the unwary.
The Urn was boiling on the arrival of the first players at 7 o’clock and the two-choice lunch offering was well received.
The best score of the day was Jim Ward’s 41, followed bt Les Smith’s 38 in the other Division. In the Ladies group, Ailsa’s 33 was good enough for the win, and she got a Pin Shot as well.
Photos.
1. Notice the colour of the ball disappearing into the hole.
2. What’s going on here?
3. Plenty of thought went into the preparation for this shot.
4. Des drove well all day, and this one was no exception.
5. Why wouldn’t he be happy? He has just sold all the lucky numbers.
The next game will be at Gatton on Monday 29th April. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun Start.
