Event 8 Woodford

The change of hit-off time from 9.00 to 8.30 caused a rethink of departure time to allow for the usual roadwork delays. As it turned out, all arrived well in time except for one couple who followed a truck laden with wooden pallets driven very conservately to avoid the possibility of a spill. They made a short toilet stop and watched the water from the urn being tipped down the drain before they had time to get a coffee, but they got to the Tee on time. The day was fine and sunny, even on the return home, despite the prediction of a possible afternoon storm.

For the second year in a row most members sent the message that they are no longer prepared to make the trip. So, it eventuated that only 23 players (20 men and 3 ladies) made the trip. The Pumicestone players were good hosts and made us feel very welcome. Forty-two Vets players from Mt Coolum also accepted the invitation to play.

The Course was in top condition with only a couple Bunkers out of play. As usual, the Greens were excellent and rewarded the players who correctly judged their speed.

The usual Tea, Coffee and Biscuits allowed some time relaxing before starting play. A large choice of Burger combinations during play and after the game met all lunch needs.

The highlights of the day were the win of the men’s competition by Brett Sweeting with a fine 41 points, the raffle win by Shirley Luhrman and the winning of balls in the Rundown by 19 members.

Photos. None taken today.

The next home game is an 8.30am Shotgun start at Sandy Gallop on Monday 24th April. The Timesheet is at Rosewood.
