Event 8 – Rosewood

Six degrees cooler than last week and with one month of Autumn behind us, it was just as well. A pleasant day followed a cooler morning, and the recent rain had started to bring forth the new grass growth.

The numbers today were down to 86(69 men and 17 ladies), quite a change from Opening Day, but an indication that players can be involved in so many other activities these days. We had one new Member and one Member renewing his membership. Registrations went smoothly even though some adjustments were necessary to some groups, and play got away a little ahead of time. The first players were back in just over three and three quarter hours.

The Greenkeepers worst nightmares were realised when two mowers broke down, one Greens mower and one Fairway mower. Thankfully the grass growth due to the rain has not been excessive and there was little inconvenience on the Course. The Greens have shown a remarkable improvement since our first game even though they were very slow.

The nibblies today had aa terrific variety and the jam drops brought back memories of standard biscuits many years ago. Thanks Mary. The early finishers caught the caterer out a bit, but the two offerings of ham or chicken were well received.

As expected, the scoring was affected by the lack of run on the Course but Bob Daw and Ken Hill both reached 40 points and won the day. Angie led the Ladies in with 36. No NTP skinners today but the number of players actually reaching the Green was greatly reduced, particularly on the 17th hole.
Photos.

1. The girls are setting a good example for others to follow.

2. This group have the right attitude before the start of play, relax and stay calm.

3. Rod would rather forget where this shot ended up.

4. A slightly harder shot for Graeme, but not such a bad result.

5. Just had to take this photo since they were all so enjoying their chat.

The next game will be held at Gailes on Monday 8th April. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is at Rosewood Golf Club.
