Event 7 – Esk

Play started under low heavy clouds and by our third hole the very light showers began and then continued intermittently, becoming a bit heavier as the day progressed. It didn’t actually rain, but everyone had the same problems trying to stay dry and play reasonable golf.

Players numbered 32 (29 men and 3 ladies) from the original 75 on the timesheet. Thirty saw it through to the end, with the other two lasting for 12 holes. Great to have Keith Sippel back in the fold at one of his favourite Courses.

The Course was extremely well prepared by Bernie’s crew, and it was a pity that the weather prevented full enjoyment of their efforts. The Greens were well grassed and the new one on the 7th hole was in top shape and the new one on the 2nd hole is well under way.

What a treat to be greeted by fresh scones and homemade Jabotica jam. Lunch was a top-class salad finished off with apple crumble and ice cream sweets. Thanks so much to the Ladies at Esk for this great treat after a hard day in the office.

Not Lucky Numbers or Pin Shots today for Ernie Wright. He went all the way with a win in the Sweepstakes event. Brett Liebke finished second and Bob Carter third.

Photos.

1. Like many others, Glenn found the going tough today.

2. This was a common sight at every Tee.

3. These two take time to dry out and tuck into the very welcome lunch.

4. Local knowledge was only good enough for a ball in the rundown and a Pin shot today for Lyle.

5. I thought Keith would have been happier about his return to the Vets today. Local, Bruce, picked up a rundown ball also.

The next game is at Rosewood on Monday 29th March. No Woodford players will be joining us, so it will revert to an 8.30am Shotgun start. Please advise other players on the Timesheet of this change to the hit-off time. The Timesheet is now available.
