Event 6 – Lowood

There was some doubt as to how the weather would be for the period of the game but concerns about showers or a storm were quickly allayed when the cloud cover gave nine holes of great playing conditions. The clouds then disappeared and the last nine were quite warm, with most players glad to quench their thirsts at the bar after the game.

The field was 79 (68 men and 11 ladies) and would have been 80 except for a Timesheet mix-up. Play moved well with only one or two holes experiencing short delays.

The Course was in great shape except for the restoration work on the Fairways, but a Local Rule covered relief from affected areas, and they caused no concern. The Greens provided for excellent putting by those who have mastered the art e.g. take the top condition of the 4th Green after the removal of problem trees. Congratulations Lowood.

The welcoming buttered bunloaf was in plentiful supply and helped to make the pre-game gatherings very congenial. The local flavour was added to the roast lunches which were a credit to the lady volunteers who prepared them.

The Round of the day had to be the 46 points of the resurrected Bob Carter who made sure we knew about it by the time his presentation speech was finished. That didn’t detract from Graham Wilson’s 43 points to win Division 2 on the strength of some very fine putting. Shirley Luhrman took the ladies trophy with 36 points.

Photos.

1. The Course is in Great shape and the clouds lifted later in the day.

2. No skimming the water for this shot.

3. Great style Des, but did it go in?

4. Congratulations Ernie, no one else today put their Tee shot through that ‘V’ in the tree on the left. What a way to get a Par.

5. When you’ve had 46 points no one minds hearing about it, especially when we all thought you would be playing up yonder today.

The next game is at Esk on Monday 30th March. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is available at Rosewood Golf Club. The Rosewood and Boonah Timesheets for the following two games will be available at Esk.
