A little bit of everything today. Sun, Cloud, Humidity and finally later in the day, a breeze, but for this time of the year, a very suitable day for trying to play to your handicap, which in the end, only four players did.
The field today was 116 (98 men and 18 ladies), our biggest field of the year so far. Of these, eight were returning members. There were no traffic holdups or mechanical problems and players moved to their Tees on time.
The Course was in great shape from boundary to boundary, but with no Preferred Lie some shots from the rough were challenging. The Greens were very true with a few Pin placements bringing some surprising results.
The boiling urn was a popular spot after booking in and meeting Covid requirements, and post-game those lunching or staying for presentations were easily accommodated.
The higher handicaps for the men suited the Division 2 players with Bob Mathers and Keith Prosser having 39 and 37 points, the best scores of the day. Ken Rogers finally got to match Pauline after a win in Division 1 with his 36 points. On many holes the Ladies Tee markers were not very far in front of the white markers the men used, and their scoring was that much harder with Debbie Zahnow winning with 33 points.
Photos. It was very hard to get shots on the Course, so the clubhouse was the location chosen for today’s photos, and it wasn’t hard to get some of those who enjoyed the day.
1. Hard to get more relaxed than this.
2. Roger couldn’t match his Sandy Gallop 40 here but there was still plenty to talk about after today’s game.
3. In this group at least, Helen got a ball in the rundown.
The next game will be at Esk on Monday 22nd March. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. Buggies can be ordered by contacting Bernie Moore on his mobile phone – 04 87 677 312.
