For this time of the year the weather was very kind, because the persistent cloud cover made playing conditions very bearable, and the darkening clouds at one stage brought only a light scud which mostly evaporated before reaching its targets.
The field was 110(90 men and 20 ladies), 14 fewer than the first game last year, because there were 13 fewer men this year. Of this number 14 were renewal members playing their first games this year. As well, there was was new member who intends playing in one of our upcoming games. Bob again put in a couple of hours printing up the cards on Sunday and Ron made sure they were in alphabetical order this week.
Preferred Lie was very much appreciated again, because, like most of our other Courses, Ipswich needs some steady soaking rain to establish good grass cover before winter. The Greens have held up extremely well and were a pleasure to putt on.
Only three of the six trophy winners this week had scores in the 40’s but Pauline Rogers 39 for her second win in three games came close. Jim Brewood had 43 points and Peter Smollen returned to the winners list with 41. Chris Petrohilos added another 2 Pin Shots to his tally and Bill Naoum had his on the 5th hole, a change, as he usually excels on the 14th.
Photos are a joint effort today thanks to Graham Wilson again.
The next game is at Lowood on Monday 4th March and the following game is at Warwick on Monday 18th March. Both will be 8.30am Shotgun starts. The Timesheets for both games are now available at Rosewood Golf Club.
