Event 3 Lowood

The Temperature reached 28 degrees by 2 o’clock when we were all back in the clubhouse. The full cloud cover made conditions very pleasant although we were all were aware of some discomfort with the high humidity being experienced around the district at the moment. Late in the game the clouds darkened but there was no real threat of rain.

The field finished up at 79(60 men and 19 ladies). Of these, seven were members renewing membership and one was a new member. Play moved reasonably well except for the notorious 2nd and 11th holes, but there was always plenty of chit-chat with another group to ease the pain of the delay.

The Course had been well prepared from fence to fence for which we were extremely thankful and this was reflected in the good scores returned. For the third game in a row the Greens were in top shape and the new 8/17th Green looks as if it will also be a pleasure to play in May.

The Lowood ladies had the Urn boiling and the refreshment area was a pleasure to behold the way it was set up. The lunch was again the very enjoyable choice from two salad dishes.

None of the winners or runners-up were challenged with countbacks so allocating trophies was easy. Risto Ala Outinen, Monty Christie and Di Stanley returned the excellent scores of 41, 40 and 39 to take the winners trophies. It was great to see the Pin shots distributed across the board and 5 different groups shared in the spoils.

Photos:

1. Ernie Lee did what he has been doing for more years than he can remember, putting his Tee shot up near the Green.

2. We were a bit concerned when this conversation between groups began, but the other players soon broke it up to get on with play.

3. New member and a local, Bruce Lowe, still took a keen interest in the flight of this shot.

4. No balls by these two in the Rundown today, and I don’t think they gave it much thought as they relaxed.

The next game is at Esk on Monday 27th February. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is available at Rosewood Golf Club.
