An ideal day for golf with a mixture of cloud, sun and breeze with no distractions to the task at hand. There was even activity from Amberley to add variety to proceedings.
The field was 96 (76 men and 20 ladies), probably just a bit below expectations, which would have exceeded 100 without withdrawals for medical reasons. The encouraging aspect was the prompt arrival of players allowing play to get under way 15 minutes early. Bob again had the cards printed and this certainly saved Registration time. Copies of the Draft 2018 Programme were available for those present and additional copies are available in the Timesheet at Rosewood and will be also on Closing Day.
The Course was very well presented considering the work needed after the rain to maintain it and the Fairways are certainly improving. The Greens were in top condition for the Championships and were even better today.
Ron’s getting quite domesticated making sure Urn is boiling and keeping the biscuits up to everyone. The lunch offerings allowed all to make suitable choices.
The Ladies had three players in the 40’s today off their regular Tees, with Pam Lane needing 45 to beat the 44 by Rhonda Williams. After a little misunderstanding in the setting up of the Course for the Men, they had over 30 players with 40 or more points. The outstanding score of the day was Adrian Scott’s 51 points to win Division 2. Terry Haslam continued his success at Ipswich after his Championship win with 48 points in Division 1,
Photos.
1. The Course was really a picture today.
2. Ross may be worrying about his swing, but not Adrian as his 51 points today proved.
3. A precarious position but Brian recovered well.
4. Top scores today is a good enough reason to smile.
5.That’s not being rude Allan is it; it’s just the taste of the Hamburger, I’m sure!
The next game is Closing Day for 2017 at Rosewood on Monday 20th November. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. Opening Day in 2018 will be on Monday 29th January at Rosewood. The Timesheet will be available at Rosewood from Friday 12th January.
