Event 28 – Wolston Park (Woodford Visit)

A light Cloudy day, with a gentle breeze and just a spot or two of rain made an enjoyable day for golf, following the disappointment of the absence of Woodford players because of the lack of numbers and the late start which was then not necessary.

The field contained 92 players (78 men and 14 ladies). Thankfully all turned up in good time to allow play to get underway by twenty to nine and so minimise the delay from the normal hit-off time. Four new members were welcomed.

As with many of our other Courses this one needed good rain, but even so, the Preferred Lie was not necessary for most shots on Fairways. The greens were in very good shape and a pleasure to putt on.

Dorothy had the urn boiling as usual and the club catered well with the lunch options meeting all needs.

Angie’s local knowledge and 42 points streeted the ladies field and Ken Rogers with the same score just pipped Gerry Buckley in Division 1. A countback was necessary in Division 2, and it went to Vic Gibbons, but it was an incorrect handicap that finally gave him the win.

Photos.

1. A penny (or probably 5 cents now) for them.

2. Here, you have a go if you think you can do any better.

3. It really pays to watch the ball on the sixth hole.

4. His set up hasn’t changed over the years, and it’s still working, mostly.

5. So good to see the girls enjoying a game together.

The next game will be at Ipswich City on Monday 7th November. The Timesheet is at Rosewood. The following game is at 2016 Closing Day at Rosewood on Monday 21st November.
