It was touch and go as to how the day would turn out, but the early morning sunshine saw nearly all nominated players turning up. The period of rain after a couple of holes spoilt what would have been a perfect day, but nevertheless the ‘stayers’ played through it to finish the Round.
The field was 116 (93 men and 23 ladies) with about 30 being non-IDVGA players though about 30 did not finish the Round because of the rain periods.
The Course was in very good condition though to score well, a very firm grip on the club was necessary when the rain was falling. The Greens were again in excellent condition, but care had to be taken when they wet.
Wayne Biles used his Course knowledge to return the best score of the day and win the Division 1 trophy. Bernie Moore and Angie Arumugam weathered the conditions best in the other Divisions to also get a pick of the table. Ron Pflugrath birdied the ninth with a great chip-in shot.
The next IDVGA game is at Lowood on Monday 30th October. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start.
