It was a fine and warm day which made for very comfortable golf play. The breeze came into play for most of the day and shots played downwind needed care to hold the Green. The use of two Timesheets caused some confusion when withdrawals or additions occurred but with a little juggling of timeslots, no groups of two were sent out and all needing Buggies were found seats. Thanks to those who helped in this regard.
The field was 86 (69 men and 17 ladies), and excellent field size which included the most women for quite some time. The presence of Sandy Gallop members helped to make the day the success it proved to be for this Coal City Cup Veterans Day game. No trouble with Card entries today due to the Sunday efforts of Paul Harbers and Les Smith to have the cards ready when players arrived. Thanks Paul and Les.
The Course was in excellent condition, and this is the result of the very appropriate selective use of the water supply running through it. The Greens were of a high standard though some found them a little slower than usual.
The new Lunch menu today was a choice of three types of freshly made wraps, and they were most enjoyable for a summer lunch. Brett did a “Show of Hands” for next year’s Lunch menu, and we hope he gets it right from the numbers of hands raised for each proposed meal.
Many were hopeful of playing well enough to get a pick of the very generous trophy table. Those who were successful, Les Smith, Bob Mathers and Dorothy Pearson had 40, 42 and 41 points to win their Divisions. Les Smith has great success on the 11th hole, and it was no surprise when he won the Pin Shot there today.
Photos. None today.
The next game is at Lowood on Monday 26th October. The following game is at Esk (Run by Esk) on Monday 2nd November. The Timesheets for both games are now available at Rosewood. Both are 8.30am Shotgun starts.
