The day was fine with clear skies and a temperature that nudged 30 degrees and surprisingly, the expected ‘Laidley breeze’ late in the morning did not arrive as usual. All players did though, and play got underway 10 minutes early.
The field was 42 (37 Men and 5 Ladies), a number that no one could have predicted for Laidley. Even with the very dry weather, school holidays and many players being away, at least sixty players were expected.
The Course has really suffered because of the drought and when players had to play their second shots on a hole, the reason for the Tee-Up to protect the remaining grass, was understood and appreciated. The Greens had been saved with the available water usage and a reasonable putting surface was the result.
There were no Queues at the urn and bikkies, so all were able to partake ad relax before the game.
The Division 1 men made the most of the Tee-Up and submitted the better scores on the day. Ted Goodbun wants Tee-Up at more courses after his 42 points. Shirley Luhrman returning fresh from her trip and Ross Hale pipped Kev Vollbrecht for the other trophies with their 36’s.

1. Not only was he lucky the dam was dry, Gary also put it on the Green.
2. It is an optical illusion. Kev is metres from the branch.
3. Ted went on to win by 3 shots so he could have afforded a penalty here.
4. It should have been OOB, but for the second time today a tree kept Cedric’s ball in.
The next game is at Sandy Gallop on Monday 21st October. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start run by the Club. The Timesheet is now out.
