Far better conditions than at our earlier game this year. At hit-off, the temperature was a pleasant 15 degrees, and it steadily rose to its predicted maximum of 22 degrees. But we were in Toowoomba, and the early breeze saw most retain warmer clothing for a few holes.
The numbers today ended up at 63 players (56 men and 7 ladies), 9 more than we had earlier in the year because an additional 9 men played. Part of the reason for that was our new memberships today. We welcomed three from Toogoolawah and one from Gatton. We thought we had 8 more but one group had nominated twice, two cancelled because of illness and there were two who did not come.
The Course was in its usual top shape, and, with no Preferred Lie, it didn’t pay to venture off the Fairway. It was surprising to find the Bunker sand less consistent than on previous games. The Greens were in top condition and just as difficult to read. It certainly didn’t pay to be above the hole for any of your putts on the seventh Green, and the wise players used the Pin placement below the slope to choose their shot to the third Green.
The Tea and Coffee available on arrival was eagerly sought after the drive up the range, and the biscuits almost lasted until everyone arrived. The lunch Menu offered a wide choice and those who purchased a meal were well satisfied.
A shaky start to the day after confusion on the Slope ratings some players received on their mobiles. It was resolved when it was realised that they had applied those from Middle Ridge. Chris Petrohilos was one winner on countback with 37 points, while Lyn Baker had to survive a double Countback for her 32 point win. Brian Zeidler was the other winner when his 39 points could not be matched by the rest of the Division players.

The next game is at Toogoolawah on Monday 9th October and the Timesheet is now available at Rosewood. There is a limited number of Buggies available but the Club is seeking member assistance in providing any extras that are needed. Ossie is taking orders from those who would like one.
