Ideal weather for today’s game and no one got lost finding the entrance to the Course. There were no reports of players turning up at Gailes this year. A large contingent of Roos, a few ducks on the dam and the peacocks and peahens made players welcome.
The field contained 77 players (68 men and 9 ladies) who all arrived on time and swiftly set about finding out where their Tees were. A funeral and travel prevented the field from being well into the 80’s. One new member joined.
The Course was a pleasure to play, and members are showing greater Course management after several visits. The Greens were well grassed, but a little bit slow since they hadn’t been mown since Saturday. The holes selected for the Pin Shots give all players a chance to have a win.
The urn was boiling for the early arrivals and the Club was happy with the lunch response and is planning a greater menu variety for next year’s visit.
The Men found the Course easier than the Ladies. Nev Halls scored 42 for the best result of the day. New player, Bryce Fletcher, returned the other 40 score of the day to take the Division 2 trophy. It is amazing how often new players take home a trophy on one of their early games with us. Six of the 9 ladies had scores within 2 strokes of each other, but Ailsa Brown’s 31 just pipped the rest.

The next game will be at Laidley on Monday 28th September. The Timesheet is at Rosewood.
