There is a problem with entering the Toogoolawah report in its proper spot, so it is included below until the ‘Toogoolawah Report’ icon is again amenable to receiving data.
Monday was a fine day for the Lowood game, but it was overcast for much of the game as the clouds kept blocking out the sun. With the cooling effect of the wind, many players were caught out and wished they had at least put a vest on. On the other hand, the usual ‘weather hardened’ few who don’t mind the cold, didn’t see what the problem was.
The field today was 78 (62 men and 16 ladies), a number which could have slowed the game considerably, but all players co-operated to keep the field moving, except at the second hole, which is usual even with a smaller field, and it turned out to be a satisfactory four and a half hour game.
The Course looked green on most Fairways, but the grass coverage was not at the level usually experienced at Lowood, and the Captain’s call to introduce ‘Preferred Lie’ relief ‘Through the Green’ was the correct decision to give players greater satisfaction from the day. The Greens were well prepared and surprised some who found that they varied in speed from one to the next as the game progressed.
With the day being quite cool, the lunch ladies made the correct decision and offered the generous hot roast and vegies meal which is their trademark, and it proved exactly what was needed to put the finishing touches to the day.
Five scores in the 40’s today with the best being Barry Geldard’s 44, the result of applying advice he had been ignoring about his driving, a 43 by Shiela Goodbun, who incurred a two-shot penalty for hitting Ted’s ball on one hole, and Ken Marschke’s 42, and I haven’t heard any reports on his game. Consequently they were the winners on the day. Another win for the ladies when Shirley Luhrman took out the All In Approach on 9/18.

1. The ‘early birds’ enjoying a chat before play.
2. I didn’t see Keith’s score today, but he was almost up to his knees in ‘trouble’ here at one stage.
3. Two practice swings and then a near perfect shot followed close to the hole.
4. Your style might be worth following, Ernie, because the putt that followed was a good one.
The next game is at Gailes on Monday 26th September. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is available at Rosewood Golf Club.
