It may have been Spring, but recent temperatures have fluctuated and made the prediction on the weather for the entire game a good challenge. As it turned out, the weather provided a perfect Spring day.
Players numbered 60 (50 men and 10 ladies), a number which benefitted from the support of local players. There was one new member and one returning member. All arrived on time and play got under way a couple of minutes early.
The Course had the best grass cover in recent years. This meant two things, one, the surface gave great lies for the next shot, and two, there was not as much run on shots. The Greens were also well grassed, but the club now has the challenge to get a good surface again after the extra growth from the over-supplied heavy rain watering. The standard of the Course is a credit to the members.
Again, the scones provided were still warm and the jam was freshly made, what a treat. The salad lunch was fitting for the weather, and the sweets were enjoyed as well. Thanks, volunteers, for your efforts.
The winners were all locals, or recent locals, and they clearly outscored the rest of the field. Peter Cook’s 40 points was the best of the day. They even got two of the Pin shots.
Photos:
1. The ball may be in the rough, but Doug had no trouble seeing the lie of his ball.
2. Fay made sure this one got airborne, and it went somewhat further than the previous two shots.
3. Hans was really putting a good deal of effort into launching this shot.
4. Helen put some thought into her direction and the care taken got good results.
5. Well, that’s it for another week and that meal looks so appetising, so get eating Shirl.
The next game is at Toowoomba City on Monday 26th September and the Timesheet is now available at Rosewood.
