The temperature may have been 8 degrees for the early arrivals, but it soon warmed up and the resulting weather was well suited for an enjoyable day’s golf.
The field was 64 players (52 men and 12 ladies), 19 fewer than our first game this year, but those who turned up welcomed the return to our programme after three lost games. One returning player and one new one was made welcome.
With the Preferred Lie option throughout the Course, there was every opportunity to have a satisfactory placement for nearly every shot. The Greens did not come as well as they presented in May and players putted on the chosen line and hoped for a good result.
Tea and Coffee were able to be purchased at the bar, supplemented by the IDVGA biscuits. The Club menu was available for those requiring lunch.
Ernie Wright had 40 points, the best score of the day, Lyn Baker took the Ladies trophy and Graeme O’connor scored again, this time on a countback. It looked as if the Division 2 Pin Shot on the 13th would be a skinner until Geoff Smith added his name to the result sheet with the last shot to hole on the day.
Photos. Very hard to get any today. But at least there was one.

The next game will be at Rosewood on Monday 6th September. It has been decided that this game will replace the lost game at Ipswich City and become the 1st Round of the 2021 Championships. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now available at Rosewood. Players have the option of playing either a Stroke or a Stableford Round. The second Round will be at Brisbane River on Monday 27th September. It too will be both Stroke and Stableford.
