Ist Round of the 2023 Championships

The skies were clear with some cloud cover, but it was a beautiful late Winter Day to play golf as the wind kept away and most players finished in just over three and a half hours.
The field was 82 (66 Men and 16 Ladies). There was one new member in that number and 6 men played in the daily Stableford competition.
For late August, without a reasonable rainfall since early in the year, the Course had held up well by responding to the watering that was available. Preferred Lie was appreciated on some lies though. The Greens have been nurtured through that period, and all had a very good cover, and they sported their Winter length grass which took some getting used to, especially considering the precarious placement of quite a few of the Pins.
No announcements were possible halfway through the competition, even so, a good number remained for lunch and a chat on what could have been.
See “Results” for the leading scores on the day.

The next game, the 2nd Round of the Championships, is at Rosewood on Monday 28th August. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. Members who did not play last week are welcome to play in the daily Stableford competition which has a separate trophy. The following game is at Gailes on Monday 4th September.
