Event 21 – Rosewood – 2015 Championships Round 2

2nd Round of the 2015 Championships
Sponsored by Queenslanders Credit Union

An ideal day for golf even though the clouds blocked the sun for the major part of the Round, and with the steady breeze, there were some cool periods but thankfully no showers resulted. We were pleased to again have Queenslanders Credit Union representative, Russell Phillips, present to join us on the Course and to present the trophies.

The numbers today were seven fewer than last week, with 91 (76 men and 15 ladies), but it was still satisfying to have two successive games with fields in excess of ninety. Captain Peter did a fantastic job in having all the scorecards pre-written and registration flowed very smoothly. It was a bit of a nuisance having to record the Stableford points as well as the stroke score, but it certainly helped John Hunter with his entries onto Golflink.

Though no one wanted rain today the Course could certainly do with a good drenching because it hasn’t been as brown as it currently is for a long time. The Preferred Lie was greatly appreciated. The Greens on the other hand were well prepared with a good putting surface on most.

Mary’s pikelets were again eagerly devoured and especially appreciated by the travellers. The hot lunch was fitting for the day with the availability of sweets for those who wanted them.

Most of the trophy winners were present at presentations and Russell Phillips indicated the pleasure the QCU has in sponsoring the event and did his pleasantly helpful job with the distribution of trophies. Peter did a slick job on determining the winners and we were ready for Presentations by 2 o’clock. Both winners, Shiela Goodbun and Bob Daw, made short speeches and posed together with Russell for a photo. Full results are listed in the ‘Results’ section.

Photos.

1. I don’t think Graham was included in much of the group conversation today.

2. Are they willing it in Rick, or wondering which side of the hole you will go?

3. Larry’s relatively new so it will take him some time to work out ‘Vets’ humour, especially in this group.

4. To the winners the spoils of the contest. Thanks for your help again this year Russell.

The next game is at Woodford (Run by Woodford Vets) on Monday 31st August. It will be a 9.00am Shotgun start. Travel is by private vehicle. Tees will be advised on arrival at Woodford. Nominations can be taken up until Saturday evening. The next Home game is at Hattonvale on Monday 14th September and that Timesheet is also now available.
