Ist Round of the 2019 Championships

What a day. The fog of the morning was replaced by a clear day, but included strong south-westerly winds which must have taken quite a volume of soil to other parts of the town and beyond.
The field was 111 (90 Men and 21 Ladies), not far short of last year’s 116. There was one new member in that number and 16 men and 7 ladies handed in Stableford scorecards.
There wasn’t too much quality grass left on the Fairways and the Preferred Lie must be reducing what little there is. In contrast, the Greens were in excellent condition and were a pleasure to play once they were reached.
Though there were no announcements, many remained for lunch and new member, Debbie Zahnow, paid for hers with a win in the Lucky Number draw.
Ann Hughes had the best Round of the day with a Nett 67, closely followed by Ken Rogers and Miguel Cufith 68’s. Allan Window’s 69 was the best of the Division 2 scores. The Johnson cousins are making a habit of getting an Eagle in August . Last year Ray had one on hole 2 and today Ken scored his on the 8th. Congratulations Ken, and we won’t talk about your score on the 3rd.

1. No photo opportunities today, but there must have been plenty out there judging by some of the scores.
