It was a very pleasant Winter’s Day, ideal for playing golf. Thankfully there was little breeze to make conditions uncomfortable.
Game numbers today were 57 (44 men and 13 Ladies), which would have exceeded 60 had other members’ commitments not intervened. Thanks to Les Smith for his efforts in handling today’s paperwork in Peter’s absence. Lunch was again of the expected Hattonvale quality and was thoroughly enjoyed by those partaking of it.
he Course layout was a surprise to everyone as changes have had to be made to ensure that neighbouring properties are not subjected to mis-hit shots. As with quite a few of the District Courses, Preferred Lie was available for those needing it. Little enjoyment was experienced on the Greens as the surfaces are not coping well with the seasonal stresses.
No 40-point games resulted, but following the over Par scores of the two Men’s winners, the bulk of the field was very crowded. Ron Manckletow almost had an Eagle on Hole 18 when his approach finished just 10cm short. Lucky it was a Pin Shot hole, so he took a couple of balls home.
Photos. The Photographer did not play today.
The next two games will be at Rosewood on Monday 22nd August and Monday 29th August. They are the first and second Rounds of our 2016 Championships.
