Event 18 – Brisbane River

It was quite cool until the cloud cover allowed the sun to warm things up and then perfect conditions prevailed.
The field today was 69 (54 men and 15 ladies), many playing the Course for the first time or not in recent times. One former member rejoined.

Under new management, the Fairways are showing signs of improvements, helped by the better grass coverage following this year’s rain. The Greens had their usual challenge and the slopes on them will be understood far better at our next game here in September.

The boiling urn was well used to warm up on arrival and the Hamburgers and Sandwiches prepared by some Club volunteers were very much appreciated.

Dorothy Pearson easily won the Ladies event, and , with 40 points Neville Farrell held off Des Davies and Glen Kelly to win Division 2. Allan Swift took Division 1 in a three-way count-back. A bigger pay out on the Approach shot on hole 8 with two in the hole. A couple of mislaid wedges were united with their owners today.

Photos.

1. Not a very long Par 3 but only reached by a few from the Tee.

2. That dot in the distance is Bernatte Bugden and her shot to the 8th from there helped her to the ladies Runner-up trophy.

3. Marysha and Diane couldn’t believe the shot she played.

4. Lunch over and waiting for announcements.

5. A keen interest in the rolling scores confirming Bumper’s good win.

The next game is at Toowoomba City on Monday 2nd August. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now out.
