A little cool at the start of play, but it soon warmed up and turned into a fine sunny day which ensured a most enjoyable day on the golf Course, weatherwise. The scoring was then the result of each player’s choice of shot and their Course management.
A field was 80 (64 men and 16 ladies) and they all coped well with entering their Golflink numbers into the computer and producing their names and playing handicaps on their scorecards, though things may not have gone so smoothly without the help of Committee member and Sandy Gallop handicapper, Paul Harbers. Thanks Paul.
Because of the length of the scorecard, the preferred lie was reduced to half a card length, though this was rarely needed on Fairways, which were in great shape for this time of the year. Players using the practice Green before play were hoping that those on the Course were in similar top condition, and they were not disappointed.
Players enjoyed the biscuits provided prior to play (leftovers from last week), but some asked why there weren’t more filled ones. The answer- they were all eaten at Ipswich. The hamburgers again were welcomed after play.
After a lean time producing 40 points and over in recent games, Division 2 players hit back with six of them today. Not only that, three of them were 42 and the winners had to be determined by countback. The winner, lucky Barry Morrow. Joy Wilson’s run of wins continued today when her 38 points were sufficient to beat the other ladies.

The next game is the Invitation 4 Ball day at Boonah on Monday 4th August. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Boonah Timesheet is now filled. The Timesheet for the following game at Rosewood on Monday 18th August is now available also. It is the 1st Round of our 2014 Championships.
