Event 17 – Beaudesert (invitation Day)

A very pleasant drive with minimal traffic along the Boonah Road and then on to Beaudesert for most players. A little chilly early on, but by day’s end nearly all were just in shirt sleeves on an ideal day for golf.

The numbers of travellers was 55 players (45 Men and 10 Ladies) who joined with 35 locals to make a very manageable field size. Mixing Ipswich District and Beaudesert players was again a great move to get all playing with different partners as well as helping with finding the next Tee. The help of some locals in sharing Buggies meant that all who wanted a game were catered for.

The Course suffered a little from recent frosts but was still in very good shape and there was no suggestion of a need for a preferred lie. The Greens were in perfect condition and the more skilled handled them well, while the rest of us just had to zig-zag to the hole.

The urn was boiling on our arrival, and the warmth of the beverage was most welcome before the game. Lunches were pre-ordered, and the high response kept the caterers fully occupied filling all orders.

Jim Collins had 38 points, the best by one of our players. Thirteen other members got balls in the rundown. We got our fair share of Pin Shots because of the skill of Angie, Pauline, Pam, Wayne, Rod and Jeff. A few others picked up Lucky Number prizes as well.

Photos:

1. I can think of a couple of other Courses which could have one of these.

2. Did anyone else Birdie this horror of a hole today?

3. John, don’t feel too bad. It’s just one of those days.

4. Back in the Clubhouse and there’s plenty to talk about if anyone’s listening.

The next game is at Esk on Monday 27th July. The Timesheet for the Fourball Challenge at Boonah, for which we are allocated 40 spaces, will be out at Esk as well as the Timesheet for the first Round of the 2015 Championships at Sandy Gallop.
