The fresh start to the day gradually changed to very warm and pleasant playing conditions with only a slight cooling breeze evident late in play. The visiting players all arrived on time and joined the locals, some of whom forgot about the 9.00am start of play and had an extra half hour to have a putt.
The field was 73 (58 men and 13 ladies) of who 6 men and 2 ladies were from Woodford or Caboolture. We had one new member and one returning member as well.
The volunteers have once again presented a Course in very good condition, and hopefully it will retain its grass cover into the warmer months. As always happens at this time of the year the Greens are not cut as low as in the summer months, but most provided a very true roll to the hole.
The urn was boiling for the arrival of our visitors who enjoyed the treats provided by Mary Gibson, and Mary and Margaret again did a great ob with the hamburgers.
Richard Winrow took out the Division 2 trophy with 39 points the best score of the day. Dorothy Pearson was a couple of shots ahead of the rest of the ladies field and Risto Ala Outinen had to survive a four-way countback to win his Division. One of the losers was Pumicestone Captain Tony Foran. No ladies could get on the 11th Green today to claim the Pin Shot balls.
Photos:
1. These plants have really come on since the rain.
2. Geoff made this putt but some of his others today didn’t finish the same way.
3. Janine was determined to get her drive to the corner on the first and she did.
4. Dorothy had to give this shot plenty of thought before she played it and just as well because she needed the points to make sure she had a win today.
The next game will be held at Sandy Gailes on Monday 25th July. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet for this game is available at Rosewood Golf Club.
