Following the forecast of a cloudy day with possible showers, there was concern that the day’s golf would be spoiled. It wasn’t to be, and a perfect mostly sunny golf day resulted.
The roll-up was 89(71 men and 18 ladies), thankfully 7 down on the original timesheet numbers. In fact, the field moved fairly well, with the worst hold-up being the usual wait on the second hole which permitted quite a bit of socialising. No new members today but two members got their three days up and have now qualified to play in the championship competition.
The Local Rule Board very clearly indicated areas where relief could be used, and as well, preferred lie was introduced. The Course was excellently presented and most Fairway lies were top notch. For this time of the year the Greens were a pleasure to putt on.
The bun loaf available before play seems to get better each game, either that, or the weather made it seem so. Two well received lunch choices and bar offering suited all.
The ever-improving Angelo Elape topped the day’s scoring with 43 points and his handicap next week will be further lowered. In form Maurie Clem finally got his game together at one of our venues and had 41 points. After letting others win for a couple of weeks, Helen Gilbert topped the Ladies scoring with 39 points. John Maxwell had the nearest the Pin measurement on the 5th hole and look for his reaction when you ask how he achieved it.

1. The Bureau predicted a cloudy day, but I’m sure they weren’t referring to the type displayed here.
2. Grim determination got this ball over the dam but still not on the Green.
3. Yes, it’s perfectly round Kev. Shape of the ball wasn’t why it didn’t go in the hole.
4. This was a great result on the 5th for John, but don’t ask him what the flight path was like.
5. Stop worrying Angelo. In a couple of minutes Bob will announce that your 43 points was the best of the day.
The next game is at Brisbane River (formerly Karana Downs) on Monday 9th July. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is available at Rosewood Golf Club.
