Event 16 – Hattonvale

As it was last year, the approach to the Club was through scattered patches of fog, and once again this heralded in another perfect day for golf. Because of the early arrival of all players, play was able to get under way 10 minutes early.

Game numbers today were a disappointing 48 (37 men and 11 Ladies), 21 fewer than for this game last year. Numbers have generally been down at most of our recent games, and most of the usual players were accounted for otherwise involved. Of these there was one new member.

Oh, how the Course needs rain, but it has stood up reasonably well under very adverse conditions. The Greens had suffered from the use of brackish water supplied from a dam at a very low level, and this made putting a guess in many areas.

Biscuits with Tea or Coffee from china got everyone off to a great start and the very enjoyable Hatton Vale meal was thoroughly enjoyed at game’s end.

Four 40’s today but only Rod Turnbull’s 41 and Des Hastie’s 42ocb got the major prizes. Janine Hauser went close with 39. Jan Prosser picked up her second Pin Shot in two weeks, and this one didn’t run through a bunker.

Photos.

1. I’m glad they all know which way they’re going.

2. Local lad, Jon, put a good one away from this spot.

3. Nine (or were there originally 12) spare balls on the 2nd/11th Tee. What a good idea!.

4. Rod was putting so well he didn’t have to watch this one to get a line.

5. Another winner today on the Tee, but no, it wasn’t Ernie it was a very pensive Des.

The next game will be at Sandy Gallop on Monday 8th July. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start.
