A fine day with good playing conditions for most of the game. Although the temperature suited play the whole day, the strengthening of the south westerly later in the day caused the removal of some hats and the switch to caps for others.
The field today was 63 (49 men and 14 ladies), seven up on the number at the last game. There were three new members and Pam Lane’s sister, Sue, enjoyed the day with us as her guest.
Once again, the water used on the fairways had them in top condition in most places, and the Greens benefitted also, but proved a handful for the visitors who were unable to read the lines of the putts or adjust sufficiently for their speed on the slopes. The wind didn’t help with this either.
The tea or coffee was eagerly sought before play, which got under way 10 minutes early, and there were enough hamburgers for all those who wanted one today.
The locals really had a day out using local knowledge to win all Divisions. Ann Hughes with 38 points, John Anderson with 39 points and Ivan Henry with 36 on countback from another local, Ian McColm. Locals also won all the Pin shots and were also prominent in the Ball Rundown.
Photos:
1. It’s not only the men who take extra care on the 4th hole Tee shot, the Ladies also have a daunting shot here. This one by Lyn somehow finished just off the Green.
2. Ted had to take his hat off in case he lost it mid-swing with the wind on this hole.
3. Wayne made sure the flag didn’t flutter while Barry Murphy had his putt.
4. Allan seems to be having concerns about the line of his next putt.
5. Pam’s guest, sister Sue, spurred her on to register a fine 37 points, the second-top ladies score.
The next game is at Esk on Monday 3rd July. It will be 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now out at Rosewood.
