Event 15 – Lowood

A cool start to the day, but with an ideal sunny, fine, and calm day, the extra clothing was quickly shed to give a much easier freedom of movement. Later in the Round, periodic cloud cover caused some to cover up again, especially when the usual Lowood breeze arrived.

The roll-up was 82(62 men and 20 ladies), continuing a trend of smaller than usual fields, but except for the usual waiting holes, the field moved evenly at an steady pace.

Preferred lie was used though the Course was in excellent condition as there were areas on the Fairways which still had to gain complete grass coverage. The Greens were equal to the best for us locally this season and players were very appreciative of the efforts of the Groundstaff to present them in this condition.

The boiling urn and the bun loaf were very welcome again and the two lunch choices were enjoyed after the game.

Nearly three 40-point winners today, but Val Hesse’s winning 38 points were as good as any 40 points. Rob Farraway’s 43 was the best of the day and Glen Kermond was extremely happy with his 40. The shot of the day yielded Rod Turnbull an Eagle on Hole 7.

Photos.

1. It’s not certain what is going on here!

2. Jim powered this one over the water.

3. John made it also, but one of the group didn’t.

4. Kev played a great shot from here to the downward sloping Green.

5. Jerry’s in a tricky situation on the 6th, but at least his club’s still intact.

6. There is no 6, but I wish there was one of the expression on Val Hesse’s face when she was announced the winner today.

The next game is at Hatton Vale on Monday 1st July. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is available at Rosewood Golf Club.
