A fine day spoilt only by the very cool south westerly wind. However, players were determined to make the best of the day, so they all arrived on time and play got underway on time.
The field was 114 (93 men and 21 ladies) with two new members and another two returning for their first game this year, perhaps because they all wanted to get a look at the Course before the Championships in August.
The new work on the Course is continuing and they are all making things easier for players, as well as improving the general layout. The Fairways are responding to the use of fertiliser and the Greens are the best they have been for a very long time.
Ron Pflugrath made sure the Tea and Bikkies were ready on time and reports indicate that the meal offerings are being readily accepted.
Many new players make an impact in their initial game with us and today was no exception with Bryan Kathage taking the Division 1 Trophy with a fine 44 points. Foundation member Ron Pflugrath added another trophy to his past successes with a solid 39 points on countback from Cedric Payne who also won on countback. Marysha Boonstoppel made it two wins this year in the ladies Division.
