After the very cool weather conditions experienced at the last game at City Golf Club, all were hoping for a fine warm day, and they almost had it, except that the cloud cover caused the day to be a little less comfortable than hoped for. Nevertheless, an enjoyable day’s golf ensued.
The field contained a very pleasing 80 players (64 men and 16 ladies) and it is hoped that numbers at around these figures can be achieved at most of our future games. Two new members played and to cap it off, one of them won his Division trophy.
The decision before hit-off concerned the colour of the Men’s Tee markers. Blue was selected and as the Course played very long, probably will revert to the shorter white Course in 2016. The Course itself was in very good condition except for a couple of Fairways but the Pin placements on some of the Greens left very little margin for error on Greens which were mostly very slick once the dew disappeared later in the morning.
Mark Butler’s fresh hot scones were extremely welcome before play and the lunch choice after the game suited the good number who ordered them and were very appropriate for this time of the year.
Only one score in the 40’s today and that was by new member Bob Irwin, who hopes to be a regular now his shoulder has responded to surgery. John Ward and Pam Lane took out the other two trophies. Marysha Boonstoppel led the way for the Ladies by taking out the All In Pin Shot on the Par 3 16th hole.

1. After the Coffee and scones there’s still lots to discuss before the game.
2. Plenty of thought went into this shot and it was right in the middle of the Fairway.
3. New to the Vets but still a winner. He’ll have a Vets shirt next game now.
4. I almost missed this shot getting ready in case he took a backflip.
The next game will be at Lowood on Monday 29th June. The following game will be at Ipswich City on Monday 6th July. The Lowood Timesheet is now out and the Ipswich City one will be out at Lowood. The Timesheet for the Beaudesert game on 20th July will also be out at Lowood.
