Event 13 – Woodford

The drive up to Woodford took longer than anticipated with stoppages for roadwork for those taking the route through Esk. One player took longer than that again by sightseeing around Woodford looking for the Course. But the positives were that it was a beautifully fine Winter’s Day and play moved very steadily.

Only 40 players (33 men and 7 ladies) made the trip, though this would have been considerably increased had the proposed Bus hire arrangement not fallen through at the last moment. It was pleasing to have had 26 Pumicestone players join us for the day.

The Course was in great condition and a pleasure to play. The Greens were excellent although an unfamiliarity with the Course caused many miss-reads of the line to the Pin.

The usual Tea, Coffee and Biscuits were available on arrival, and a selection of Burger combinations was available for lunch after the game.

Errol O’Farrell had 37 points, the best score of the day and John Hafner won the Men’s Second Runner-up trophy with 35 points. Pauline Rogers just won the Ladies trophy with 34 points, one ahead of Lyn Baker’s 33. Paul Mahoney, Pam Lane , Bob Carter and Ossie Baker won Pin shots. All players benefitted from the Pumicestone District policy of paying all players a ball in the Rundown.

Photos. Sorry, none today.

The next home game is at Laidley on Monday 21st June. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Tee-Up requirement has been removed and the Course has good grass cover. There will still be a Preferred Lie.
