The likelihood that the game would be interrupted by rain was a distinct possibility when most players travelled up in light showers and on arrival, they found others entering the Clubhouse with their umbrellas out. However, except or about ten drops on one hole late in the game, the day was fine.
The field was a low 47 (36 Men and 11 Ladies), after 11 players of the 58 on the timesheet decided not to chance the weather conditions. We had one new player in that number.
The Course was in even better shape than it was in May. Some of the Greens had a problem with the condition of the grass, but it didn’t affect the putting line at all
The cooler weather, together with the prevailing showers in travel, saw a good demand for the tea and coffee, and the four choices of menu had all appetites satisfied.
Ken Rogers had 37 points for a one-point win, his second in three weeks, Bruce Thorogood’s 36 points was a three-point win in Division 2 and Lyn Baker sneaked home in the Ladies competition with 32 points. The field moved well and most finished in just over three and a half hours.
Photos:
1. Is Graham thinking of his next shot or the weather?
2. Mary took time with this shot and the ball ended up close to the Green.
3. Glenn’s putter shot finished only two handspans from the Pin.
4. It’s evident what Arthur thought about the shot he just played.
5. The game’s over, the buggies are loaded, and the clouds are high, so it will be a dry drive home.
The next game is at Toowoomba City on Monday 19th June. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now at Rosewood.
