Event 12 – Sandy Gallop

Early in the day it was quite cool but it warmed up as play proceeded. There was no rain during play though the 10 mm overnight obviously was in the minds of many potential starters.

The field today was 51(38 men and 13 ladies), the lowest number at the Course in recent times. Of these there was one new memmber. The rain has severely damaged all District Courses, and a few areas of this Course still had some way to go to be playable again. Paul Brennan had the new design cards printed out and it was an easy task to enter scores on them.

The Course was very playable in most areas but care was needed in areas seriously affected by water flow. The Greens continue to be a pleasure to putt on.

The Urn was well placed for access and was eagerly used by most members. Those ordering a hamburger lunch were not disappointed in the warm local burgers once again.

The winning scores of 35, 34 and 33 told the tale about the run on the Course. Rod Turnbull, Ros Englund and Doug Walsh were good enough to win the Trophies on offer. Unfortunately, no Division 2 men were able to reach the 18th Green to take their Pin shot.

Photos:

1. The 18th fairway looks tops here but to keep it that way Buggies had to keep to the path. Brian Lake couldn’t repeat the shot he played on Saturday when his Tee shot hit the path bounced up, struck the Clubhouse and then ricocheted halfway up the Car Park. He got his ball back.

2. Some of the damage caused by the flood still to be repaired.

3. No problem here on the dryer section of the Course for John.

4. A prize for the person who can work out what’s going through Bob’s mind and what he ended up doing. And he wasn’t taking a dive.

5. A new member, two winners and a Pin Shot winner enjoying a yarn after play.

The next game is at Woodford on Monday 20th June. It will be a 9.00am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now out at Rosewood.
