No worries about the weather today – ideal for golf but just a reminder that winter is around the corner with the Laidley breeze just that little bit cool on occasions.
The nominations were 86 but the final tally on the starter’s block was 67 (53 men and 14 ladies). With some juggling, enough buggies were located for all the non-walkers. Membership rose by one with a late return to the fold.
Biscuits supplemented the available Tea/Coffee and a light lunch of toasted sandwiches was able to be ordered before play.
The Course played was the first 9 holes played twice as a variation from the Course layout which involves playing holes 10, 11 and 12. This lengthened the time of play and the only serious hold-ups occurred on the second hole the first time around. The condition of the Fairways has improved with rain, but the Greens were a challenge with the Championship Pin placements and the surface still recovering from scarifying.
Bob Daw and John Hunter made sure of wins with 43 and 42 points respectively. Angie Arumugam’s 38 points gave her her first win with the Vets. John Ward won ten balls with his two Pin Shot wins but was bemoaning the fact that he was only taking one home after giving 6 away and losing three in the water.
Photos.
1. Wide open spaces aplenty, but don’t land on the left-hand side of the 3rd Fairway.
2. Concentration plus and a very good shot followed.
3. A very scenic Course but Michael has other things on his mind.
4. Joy didn’t go far unless he needed another ball or two.
5. Angie anxiously waiting for Presentations to see if she has won her first trophy.
The next home game is at Gatton on Monday 22nd June. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The following game is at Lowood on Monday 29th June. There are still spaces for more players on the City Timesheet and another couple of Buggies look like becoming available. If interested, Ring Ossie for details.
