Event 12 – Ipswich City

At last a change from Summer temperatures. The morning minimum was 0 degrees, but it soon warmed up to give us the Autumn weather we were expecting weeks earlier, and it came just 2 days before the official start of Winter.

Players continue to support our 18-hole games with the field reaching 90 (78 men and 12 ladies). It is hoped that these numbers can be maintained in the cooler months of the year. Included in the field were 2 new members and 1 returning member.

Some more improvements to the Course since February with Management striving to protect the areas around Greens by restricting buggy traffic in the vital areas. The Greens have held up well under the high temperatures and it will be interesting to see if they can weather the next 3 months just as well.

The opportunity to have a tea or coffee to warm up before play was taken by most players in a well-appointed clubhouse environment. All arrived early again allowing another pre-8.30am start.

Good scoring was again in evidence, with the returned globetrotter, Gaye Geldard, returning 43 points, the best of the day. Ivan Henry with 42 and Bob Daw with 41 won their Divisions. Reports received confirmed that Ian McColm’s 97cm Pin Shot on the 14th hole looked like a possible Hole in One until it barely missed hitting the flag.

Photos.

1. Having the cards ready made for a smoother start to the day. Thanks Peter.

2 Bob had every confidence in her getting this tiddler.

3. He took his time and sent down a boomer.

4. No worries here. One of the day’s better shots.

5. Not a good hole for Bob. It may have cost him the Runner-up trophy.

The next game is at Woodford on Monday 6th June. It will be a 9.00am Shotgun start, and players should give themselves plenty of time in case of hold-ups from timber lorries. Tee allocations will be available on arrival at Woodfrod. There are still spaces on the Timesheet for any late Nominations. The next Home Game is at Wolston Park on Monday 13th June. That Timesheet is now available at Rosewood.
