There were reservations about a game in Toowoomba in late May, but with a temperature rising to 23 degrees, conditions were ideal despite the breeze which affected ball flight late in the game. Luckily it wasn’t a day later as the wind picked up and the temperature only got to 16 degrees.
The field ended up being a very pleasing 90 (77 Men and 13 Ladies). There were three re-newing players. All appreciated the issue of 12 months Social Membership and the use of the new motorised Buggies.
The Course was in excellent manicured condition and the speed of the Greens again provided a real challenge, especially on downhill putts.
Travellers always appreciate a hot cuppa, and a boiling Urn greeted them all on arrival. No one mised out on lunch and were served at their tables. Jim Brewood and Angelo Elape both had double wins in the lucky numbers.
I’m not sure what the similarity Esk has with City, but Bernie Moore had 4 points more than the next best one, Denis Misso got a ball in the Rundown and Bruce Thorogood won a Pin Shot. Murray Panzram had his first win with us and Jan Prosser’s 30 was the best for the ladies. Graeme O’Connor followed last week’s win with two Pin Shots. Queensland Vets Championships results in atrociously wet conditions for our 16 participants were – Chris Petrohilos 3rd in the Gross and Shirley Luhrman picked up a Pin Shot. Earlier in the month, Angelo Elape picked up a Runner-up in 2nd Division in the NSWVGA Championships at Tenterfield. Congratulations to all three.

1. How many does it take to look up a handicap?
2. Top shot. Bill put this one on the Green.
3. Oh Wal, there’s only one thing to do when you and the group think the 10th is the first, and you’re doing it.
4. Paul also played a top shot onto the Green.
5. Ian had the jitters lining this one up on the slope above the hole on the 18th, but it didn’t miss by much.
The next game is an 8.30am Shotgun start at Boonah on the 3rd June.
