A glorious Autumn Day which once again proved ideal for golf. Hit off was on time and it could have been 10 minutes earlier except for two ‘no-shows’.
The field was 91 (74 Men and 17 Ladies), twenty more than this time last year, and as expected, playing time was around the 5-hour mark. Only one hole had a large back-up, but the others just had the occasional small delay, which over the day resulted in the additional half hour. There was one new player and that brings our membership for 2018 up to 200.
The Course was very well presented, and the Preferred Lie was not always needed on the Fairways. The Greens were in top condition and that is something that we could really get accustomed to. Thanks Laidley.
It was just a little cool before play and the boiling Urn and the Biscuits were eagerly sought. Two choices for lunch today and both were readily enjoyed.
Helen Gilbert had the easiest win today, by one stroke. Both Men’s winners, Peter Frazer and Ossie Baker got theirs’s on Countback. The Club made a Lap Top available to check Handicaps and it was well used and much appreciated. It will be interesting to get John Hunter’s report to see how many wrong ones there were except for the wrong one which cost a player a win in Division 1. John Ward kindly donated a dozen balls for best Front and Back Nines and then used his local knowledge to win one of them.
Photos.
1. This part of the Course is always scenic at this time of the year, especially when there is water in the dam.
2. The shortest putt for Par that Gary had all day.
3. A great set-up Bryan but it must have been alignment that put the ball Pin high to the left of the Green.
4. Sometimes a careful club selection is needed to get the ball back on to the correct Fairway.
5. Three groups sharing lunch with a Winner and a Runner-up today.
The next game is at Ipswich City on Monday 28th May. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start.
