What would the weather do? Some woke at 3.00am, heard the rain and decided then to pull out. Others waited until the morning and then made their decision – Many to pull out and a smaller number to play. Those who decided to play made the right decision. It may have been a little wet on the drive to the Course, but by 8.00am the light drizzle had disappeared, and it was a beautiful day for golf.
The final starting number from 86 nominations was 36 (35 men and 1 lone lady). Of these one was a visitor and another a returning member.
The Course was in very good condition though the Greens were difficult to read since they hadn’t been mown since Saturday. The only negative was not getting a ruling on the Bunkers before play as many contained so much water that playing from them was sheer torture.
Gaye and Barry again had the Urn boiling on our arrival as well as providing the necessities to make sure of some nourishment before play.
Les Smith repeated his effort of last year and won the day with 38 points. Bill Naoum with 37 points had to be content with runner-up again after the same result last game. Let’s hope his horses don’t follow suit.

1. If that’s how you felt before the game Bob, how will you feel afterwards?
2. It was a great drive Bill, but you needed one more point for a win.
3. This tree must be in a vulnerable place to have scarring like this and after Monday there would have been a lot more.
4. Looks like Ross is giving a few tips on how to get out of waterlogged bunkers!
The next game will be at Laidley on Monday 25th May. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun Start.
