Event 10 – Rosewood

It was a pleasant though mostly overcast day with quite a constant breeze, so let’s hope that the 30-degree days are behind us and the cooler weather allows for more comfortable games, but hopefully not too much so until after the Warwick game.

The field was 95 (81 Men and 14 Ladies), including two visitors from the Albert and Logan District, and we were able to hit off on time again. The shirt embroiderer has been busy and seven new shirts were ready for issue.

The Course has dried out considerably since the rain and a Preferred Lie was in force and needed on many occasions. There’s no doubt that that allowed higher scoring than at the previous game. The Greens had quite a thick covering of grass, but even after the morning’s mowing the Pin placements from the first Round of the Club Championships made putting quite a challenge on some holes.

Fresh pikelets and the accompanying nibblies were well received again, thanks Mary, and the two lunch choices had good orders.

Marysha Boonstoppel returned to the winners list for the ladies, and new player this year, Ivan Keen, had yet another win. Enjoy them while you can Ivan even though the win was by a big margin. John Ward was estatic with a win also as it was the second lowest Round he had ever played. Congratulations John. The Pin on the 17th hole went missing after the game giving Les Smith quite a wait to find out if he had held on to win, and we’re all still waiting to find out too Les. Does anyone know who Gerry gave it to bring in?

Photos.

1. You know what you should be watching, don’t you fellows!

2. Let’s hope you putt that well next week at Maroochy, Charles.

3. You can’t turn your back on some people for even a second, can you.

4. You wouldn’t have to wait Jim if you stayed on the right Fairway.

5. Would you believe that Gerry’s ball finished right where Cedric putted this one from. He should have aimed at the hole.

The next game is at Laidley on Monday 22nd May. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The following game is at Warwick on Monday 29th May. It will also be an 8.30am Shotgun start. Both Timesheets are now out. There are still some Buggies available for hire at Warwick.
