Event 10 – Karana Downs

It was beautiful Autumn weather today. The weather report indicated a possible shower during the day. Thank goodness that didn’t happen, and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable day.

There were 50 players today (44 men and 6 ladies). A disappointing number considering the conditions, but it is a busy time of year for quite a few of our members. Some who could have played but didn’t may be wishing they did after getting the positive feedback from those who did.

The Course was in very good condition and the Course maintenance staff must be proud of the results of their efforts. The Greens were equal to any of those played this year and better than many of them. The ‘River’ hole again proved to be the one which drew most caution from players, often to no avail as they found the hazards.

The hamburger lunch was eagerly awaited by most of those buying their lunches though there were a couple who decided to try the pies.

The ladies topped the scoring for a change today. Lisa Taylor’s 41 points just pipped Ailsa Brown’s 40 points, the only scores in the 40’s. Des Davies home Course knowledge and a new set of clubs allowed him to take the Division 2 trophy for the second year in a row. The other local, Terry Haslam, couldn’t quite match Miguel Cufi in Division 1. Miguel liked the Course so much he put his name on the Timesheet for Saturday’s comp.

Photos.

1. Never seen the Course looking better.

2. Keith and Ron weren’t the only ones to take a drop here during the Round.

3. More trouble on the dreaded Fifth hole. Don’t take a backward step, Jim.

4. The scores were only average for most, but we still enjoyed the Course today.

The next game is at Laidley on 26th November. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The following game on Monday 2nd June is the Annual visit to Woodford, this year using private vehicles only. It is a 9.00am Shotgun start.
