Event 1 – Rosewood Opening Day & AGM

Excellent weather to start 2025.  A little warm, but a slight breeze made conditions bearable.

The year got off to a good start with 82 players, (66 men and 16 ladies), including 13 new members and an addition 2 members rejoining us again after a couple of years absent. The new registrations and the distribution of Fixture and QVGU cards went well, and players headed off to their Tees right on time.

The Course was in very good shape, and the Club members did very well to have it ready to play, just leaving some areas of rough for us to try to avoid. The Greens were in real good condition after recent rain. They had the usual cut for this time of year, and we all now look forward to putting on them in cooler weather.

A good number of players had freshened up during the break, but only the one score over 40 points today.   Russel Dennis clearly won Division 1 with 41 points, whilst Jerry Buckley was able to secure the Division 2 win with 33 points.   Leann Panzram was the Ladies winner.

Congratulations to all winners. See Results Sheet in the Image Gallery

Photos:

1. Joe Hines showing his style.  Not sure the results was as good though.

2. I suspect this group was checking out the putting prowess of Dave Roberts.

3. The stern looks tells me that I am no Ozzie when it comes to taking “action” photos.

4 & 5.  Cameron seems to be able to get the one photo.  So, two it is, just change the photographer appears to be the way to go.

6. The dam was full following recent rain.  I know the dams got two of my balls (11th and 15th) 🙁

The next game will be held at Sandy Gallop on Monday 3rd February. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet for this game is available at Rosewood Golf Club.

The President’s Annual Report for the 2024 year was presented at the AGM held straight after Presentations. In the absence of any new nominations, the existing Committee members were duly re-elected. The Secretary/Treasurer circulated the Auditor’s Report which showed a modest increase in income for the year 2024, with the association in a strong financial position.
