A temperature in the mid 30’s, with occasional cloud cover and a high humidity as a result of recent rain and the build-up to an afternoon storm made conditions on our Opening Day quite uncomfortable at times.
Another early start because of the Australia Day holiday next Monday saw a roll-up of 107 players (85 men and 22 ladies). Ten of these were new players and another eleven paid their Nomination but did not play. Play got under way a little early, a good thing too as the AGM had to be fitted in before the predicted storm arrived.
There was more grass cover than on Closing Day which cut in to the run on the Course but though left a bit long to weather the summer heat, the Greens were very good condition.
Janelle and Lorraine dished up a great variety of delicious eats and the new Caterers had the approval of those who lunched.
Shirley Morgan’s local knowledge was enough to just win the Ladies trophy and John Hafner won the Division 1 trophy by the same margin. Two new members started out with trophies, Dave Pepper with the Division 2 trophy and Faye Pickering with a Pin Shot.

The next game will be held at Sandy Gallop on Monday 3rd February. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is at Rosewood Golf Club.
The Annual Report for the 2019 year was presented at the AGM following Presentations. Last year’s Office Bearers were re-elected unopposed. The Report indicated a membership of 207 with 23 new players joining during the year. Nine games had numbers over 100 and none of the 29 games were cancelled because of rain. Hatton Vale (closed) and Warwick will not be played in 2020. Games all proceeded smoothly because of the cooperation of members and the efficiency of the Committee and a few other helpers. The Secretary/Treasurer reported a healthy Balance Sheet on a par with that of the previous year, with an expectation of a similar result in 2020.
