Daily Competition
Most Competitions will be 18 Hole Single Stableford events, played as per the Fixture Programme, unless weather, Course Conditions or decisions by the host club require changes to be made.
From 2025 the Men’s competition will now be played in three Divisions. These will be:
Division 1 – Scratch (0) up to Handicap 10.
Division 2 – Handicap 11 to 18.
Division 3 Handicap 19+.
Ladies will play in their own competition.
All play will be by Timesheet which is located at the Rosewood Golf Club. Hit-off times will usually be 8.30am Shotgun starts, though earlier starts are implemented where there are One or Two Tee hit-offs when playing groups are ready to play, as this allows earlier finishes for later players. Whilst Shotgun starts place additional pressure on the Captain in finalising the day’s results and also on the caterers with large numbers finishing at about the same time, it has proved very popular with players because of the added social interaction before and after the game. Players are free to choose their own playing groups if they so desire. The Clubs which host our games do so on the understanding that our members comply with the dress standards and Course and Clubhouse behaviour observed by their own members.
Game Conditions
Tee off will be according to the Timesheet or as called by the Starter. Players will use their current Golf Australia Exact Handicaps to determine their Daily Playing Handicaps as listed in the Handicap ‘Look Up Charts’ for the Course being played. All results from events on AGU Rated Courses will be entered on Golflink. Members are expected to write their Given names, Daily Handicap and Golflink numbers on their scorecards to assist with the compilation of results.
In the event of a Tie in any of the events, the winner will be decided by countback. Motorised buggies and Distance measuring devices are permitted in all events. The hire of Buggies is the responsibility of the player. The Rules of Golf and Local Rules of the Golf Club at which the competition is being played shall be the Rules of Play for the event, unless conditions on the day require additional rules, sanctioned by the Club where necessary, to be introduced. All complaints must be in the hands of the Captain (or his Representative), in writing, within fifteen (15) minutes of the completion of the Round by the group concerned.

Away Games
Each year a number of games are played at Courses outside the District. In the past, where distance to the venue was a concern to sufficient numbers of members, a bus was hired to transport those players not wishing to drive.
Because of the present prohibitive cost of bus hire, buses will no longer be used.
Nearest the Pins
Nearest the Pin and Approach Shot Trophies will be allocated each Competition day according to the size of the field or the Sponsorship received. At least one trophy will be provided each normal competition day for Ladies, Men’s Division 1, 2 and 3. Unless the field is extremely small, or sponsorship or visits by other Associations are involved, each trophy awarded will consist of 5 balls. There is an understanding in our Association that the winner of a Pin Shot or Approach will give a ball to each of the other players in his or her group.
Trophies
Handicapping
Following each game conducted by this Association, action will be taken to have the scores entered on Golflink as soon as possible, particularly as many of our Lady members play in competitions the following day. Any queries about Golflink entries for our competitions should be addressed to the Handicapper (John Hunter) or Captain (Bob Carter) and not to the Club at which the event was held.
Each Division will be allocated separate Winners and Runners-up trophies (where appropriate). Currently, the trophies are Gift Cards or Cash as determined by the Committee. Separate Ball Rundowns will apply to the Men’s and Ladies competitions. Trophies will be presented at the conclusion of each day’s play. Trophies not collected within 2 months will return to the trophy pool.

Association Shirts
Through Association subsidy, the cost of Association Shirts is kept at a reasonable level. They can be taken as trophies as well as being available for purchase at Home games. The Captain and President handle Shirt sales and arrange for the embroidery of the Association Logo and the member’s name on them after being purchased or won.
Name Badges
Now that player may choose to have their names embroidered on their shirts, there is not a great call for Name badges. However for those who require them, they can be purchased from “Trophies ‘R’ Us” situated at 259 Brisbane Street Ipswich.
Membership Card
Members are given a Membership Card on payment of the annual membership fee. The card contains the current year Programme, the names and phone numbers of Committee members and those of Clubs where our games will be played. The QVGU, with whom we are affiliated, also issues a membership card to all IDVGA members and no member will be permitted to play in sanctioned Veteran competitions throughout Queensland without the production of the QVGU card to confirm Affiliation with that Association. We welcome Visitors to our competitions provided they are members of a Club or District affiliated with the QVGU or the AVGU and can provide evidence of this.
