No concerns over inclement weather for this game as it was ideal for the Day’s play. Play got underway a bit early when everyone turned up in plenty of time and with the field moving at a steady pace, with only slight waits at a couple of Tees, most players finished in four to four and a quarter hours.
The field only reached 65 (57 Men and 8 Ladies) players, with the biggest change from this game last year being the drop in Lady players from 19 to 8, mainly because most of those are no longer members.
The urn was boiling on our arrival and with the biscuits supplied by the IDVGA, most took the opportunity to relax and have a drink and a chat before play. The Fish, Salad and Chips lunch was well received.
The Course was in much the same condition as it was last year, with the rain received by surrounding centres by-passing Laidley and leaving it relatively dry and dusty compared to the well-grassed Course presented when water is plentiful.
Two scores in the 40’s today both in Division 1 with Wayne Gordon’s 42 winning another trophy. In Division 2, local knowledge got Nev Emmerson home by 2 shots. In the Ladies competition 3 points separated the first 5 players with Ailsa Brown the victor. Hole 2 reaped a bonanza of Balls for Joy and Graham Wilson when they both won Pin Shots.
Photos.
1. There’s plenty to talk about before the game.
2. Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but this should make a good photo.
3. Concentration paid off with this shot but isn’t the Course dry!
4. New members soon find a place in one of our playing groups. Welcome Bryce.
The next game is the “week of golf” game at Sandy Gallop (Run by Sandy Gallop) on Monday 19th October. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The following game is at Lowood on Monday 26th October.
