Event 15 – Laidley

All the seasons in one today. A very cool start with the constant threat of rain which only produced one short nuisance shower and a few spots on a couple of other occasions. It was warm when the sun was out, but the westerly wind saw most players stay wrapped up.

The field was70 (61 men and 9 ladies), a very manageable field which kept moving except for the usual hold-up spot on the second Tee. The new ‘Silver Course’ was played and as long as players stuck to the next hole number indicated on the scorecard they had no difficulty.

The Tea/Coffee and biscuits available before play supplied some inner warmth before play and the two lunch choices proved very adequate for those who ordered lunches.

The Course is still stressed from the lack of water and now the cold weather and the Preferred Lie was appreciated. The recently scarified Greens should recover well in the Spring and result in the usual Laidley top putting surface.

Les Smith had the only score in the 40’s to win Division 1 while Bernie Moore is back to his winning ways again in Division 2. Pam Lane needed a countback to win yhe Ladies Trophy. One of the best shots of the day was Bob Daw’s Tee Shot on the eighth to within 27cm of the Pin to take the Pin Shot.

Photos. Sorry, none today. Camera left at home.

The next home game is at Beaudesert on Monday 4th July. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. Spaces are still available in the field. If interested, ring Peter.
