It was an ideal day for golf and certainly the most comfortable playing conditions experienced this year. The steady breeze helped in this regard, but it did often change direction and made players give careful consideration to club selection. All who wanted a Buggy today were able to be accommodated and prompt arrival ensured play began early.
The field was 73 (63 men and 10 ladies) which allowed play to proceed at an even pace. This allowed almost twice as many of our players able to participate as has been happening when joint fields limited our number of nominations.
Boonah was at it’s March best and the only relief needed was from areas of new work. Thankfully the Greens were not their lightning fastest, but in top shape when the correct line was identified and putted.
Boonah Golf Club had the Urn boiling for us and the IDVGA provided the Tea/Coffee and biscuits today to get everyone off to a good start. The lunch menu was very adequate, and the Boonah volunteers had the lunches ready straight after players reported in after the game.
Don Sheraton had the only 40 points of the day to win Division 2. Don McKee made it two wins this year with his 39 points, but only after countback, and this time he moved up a Division to take the Division 1 trophy. Shirley Luhrman was one point in front of Barbara Scott to deny her her first win since returning to our group. John Farnbach had some anxious moments when he arrived at one Green to find his clubs missing. He hadn’t heard them fall off. Luckily Ernie Wright witnessed the ordeal and was able to rectify the situation.
Photos.
1. The Course was in top condition yet again.
2. Looks like this shot was not quite what Rainbow hoped for!
3. Was this the putt that won Don the day?
4 As usual, quite a lot of care goes into an EEE shot.
5. Yet another individual shot today. It was hard to get groups. The careful set up here resulted in a top shot for Tom.
The next game is an 8.30am Shotgun Start at Esk on Monday 21st March.
