There were some late patches of fog on the trip up, but it ushered in a fine and warm day. All arrived early again and allowed an early start.
The numbers today were 69 (58 men and 11 ladies) up 6 from the corresponding game last year. This was made possible because of the efforts of Bruce Thorogood in the absence of Bernie Moore. Those who got a buggy from one of the Esk members thank them sincerely.
This is the flattest Course that we play, and together with the present dry conditions being experienced everywhere, there were no excuses for not reaching the Greens in regulation strokes. The Greens have responded as well as could have been expected from the attention they have received, and putts reached the hole from those prepared to play solid strokes.
The fresh scones didn’t last long again today, and the lunch was right to Esk volunteer standards. Thanks ladies.
At this game last year, the Guest’s took the trophies home, and they did exactly the same again this year. Peter Smollen won the other men’s trophy with 42 points which equalled Jim’s score. David Noe took the Division 2 Pin shot on hole 4 to score his first Pin shot with us.
Photos.
1. He’s not just practising. There is a ball there at his toes.
2. Jim put plenty into this drive.
3. It’s good to have you back Charles.
4. This was one of Jan’s better putts today.
5. Yes Doug, there’s always next game to get a better result. You only needed two more points today.
The next game is an 8.30am Shotgun start at Wolston Park on Monday 9th September. The Timesheet is now available.
